On Luck

Luck is a combination of: Grace and Universe’s Fortune.

Grace: direct, conscious gift from God.

Universe’s Fortune:

Favourable tangent lines from circles in the universe, from two parts:

A. Your self is magnetized via merit of character, so the best probabilities come to you;

B. Random chance

Circles mean events, people, intentions, etc.

Tangent lines mean consequences from circles, i.e. results, effects from them.

Merit means you do the right things.

Magnetized means you become a gravity well;

Tangent lines fall into gravity well. More merit = Bigger gravity well — this = more favourable tangent lines.

How is “favourable” dictated? Universe is intelligent, so is God.

Perhaps the truth is more complex; this is my simple understanding.

Magnetized because your own circle is enlarged by dint of doing more, touching more area, more tangent lines into you.

Merit from that which is harmonious with the universe, viz. the natural order and state and flow of things are respected; to wit, for example, if a natural order for a tree is to photosynthesize, it would be demeritous for the tree to eat some pork chops. You can extend this into your own life.

As far as tangent lines go, perhaps a better word would be vectors, or trajectories, or rays, etc; I mean only cause and effect; something happens from a circle, and that effect from it turns into a cause for something else to be affected by it. So if you throw a ball up and then it falls down on an animal, and that makes it run with the leash you were holding on it, then that drags you away, etc, those are the tangent lines from the initial ball falling down, the unintended consequences. The most perfect word to use as a geometric metaphor? Perhaps not.

This is not meant as a declaration of the objective definition of luck, rather a passive idea I had and wanted to write down, because it makes some sense, though it is not complete, and may not be the fullest or even partial truth, I do admit. I chose the word “God” for ease of language, and the dichotomy of Universe and God for sake of explanation rather than a deeper statement on metaphysics, as I rather feel more of a non-dual nature in certain ways.

In summary: if you live in a cave versus as a globe-trotter, the latter gives you more exposure to people and situations which gives you more opportunity to live in alignment, and this gives you more chances to have lucky opportunities by dint of other people’s conscious choices to do good to you, as well as more chances of random luck striking, and if there is a gracefully given boon from a higher order, more opportunities for that.

It is not that “be good and good things must happen” nor is it “luck is purely random”, but rather to me, in how I feel currently (subject to change), it seems the probability may increase or decrease based on how one lives, for how much luck one gets.
